Ryan Rivas

Ryan Rivas is the author of Nextdoor in Colonialtown (Autofocus, 2022) and Lizard People (ThirtyWest, 2023). He is the Publisher of Burrow Press, which he co-founded in 2010, and the Coordinator of MFA Publishing at Stetson University’s MFA of the Americas creative writing program. A Macondo Writers Workshop fellow, his work has appeared in The Believer, The Rumpus, Literary Hub, Best American Nonrequired Reading 2012, and elsewhere.



WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:


“Publishing: The Literary Landscape”

This class will involve a discussion of the larger literary publishing landscape, using the history of Burrow Press (an Orlando-based publisher established in 2010) to contextualize the importance of community-based initiatives and small, independent publishers within the larger publishing ecosystem. There will be ample time for a general Q&A open to any questions related to publishing.
