Literary Events
The Dodge Poetry Festival is widely acknowledged as the largest poetry event in North America, representing the most eminent poets from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. On each of these four fall days, ten or more separate stages offer events simultaneously for audiences of 100 to 2,000 people. The Festival is held in Newark, New Jersey at the JPAC Downtown Arts District.
Students are allowed to apply to attend the Dodge Poetry Festival during either their Junior or Senior years. Applicants are required to submit teacher recommendations, an essay explaining what they hope to gain from the experience, and a selection of what they deem their best writing work. The faculty determines the attendees after carefully reviewing each application and determining whether students are in good academic standing.

JaxbyJax Literary Festival
For the past six years Douglas Anderson students have been invited to present work in the student showcase at the JaxbyJax Literary Festival. The festival was started as an initiative of the FSCJ English department and has grown into a major local festival for writers of all kinds.
During their senior year students can submit a work sample for the opportunity to represent our world-class creative writing program.
