Duval County Public Schools background screening is required for all volunteers. There are two types of background screening: Level I and Level II. Most of our events will require a Level 1 Volunteer Application on file.

However, due to some recent updates to the DCPS requirements, Level II volunteers will be required for all off-campus activities such as field trips. Due to this requirement, all volunteers who complete Level II Screening & volunteer for and attend an off campus event requiring Level II volunteers, will have their student’s Enrichment Fee waived for that academic year. Please note Proceessing time for volunteers is at least 5-10 business days.*

Level I Volunteers
These are volunteers who are always under the direct supervision of district staff and are never alone with students. Examples include classroom helper, book fair volunteer, or cafeteria monitor. Level I screening includes a check against the Dru Sjodin National Sexual Offender Public Website.-
There is no fee for the Level I screening.

There is a fee for the Level II screening, which is paid for by the volunteer. The fee is $74.50 (subject to change)

Volunteer to Earn Dollars Toward Your Enrichment Fees
While the Creative Writing Department relies heavily on Enrichment fees to help us host events, we understand that full financial support may be challenging for families. If you have not paid your annual enrichment fee for the year, we're offering the option to earn a credit toward your dues by volunteering. Every volunteer hour fulfilled on behalf of a student will earn $10 which can be applied to the $150 fee. There is no limit to the number of volunteer hours you can work. If you would like to participate in this program, simply sign up to volunteer and let the booster committee know that you want your volunteer hours to be applied to the annual fee.
