Spoken Word Club

The Spoken Word Club is open to all students at Douglas Anderson with an interest in performance poetry. Weekly meetings include opportunities to learn techniques for both writing and performing poetry in front of an audience.

Student leaders teach lessons and show examples of spoken word performers as examples of the many ways to approach this rapidly growing art form. Anyone interested in improving their recitation skills, performance techniques or learning to write on topics of social justice and personal revelation is welcome to join.

In addition, the Spoken Word Club performs at community events throughout the year, offering additional opportunities for students interested in performing outside of school-based events.
